This empty nester had an unused and awkward room in her house and she wanted to convert it into an ADU that she could rent out. We decided to embrace the two levels of the room and use them as a way to create division of space in this unique studio apartment.

All of the windows and doors you see were already there and the bathroom (not pictured) didn't require any updates so we focused our energy on the kitchen. The kitchen is small but fully equipped, including a dishwasher, as well as tall cabinets to maximize storage. The owner chose a poured-in-place concrete countertop for looks and for durability. The mosaic backsplash was done by the owner and brings a fun element to the space.

The owner furnished the space so that it would be ready for a renter to move right in and we added some touches to make it feel a little more lived in for the final photos.
